ArtLight was born in 1996 in a garage near the Pacific Ocean in Gearhart, Oregon. Our first product pre-existed the founding of the company: a humble home-made quotation calendar made with hand-carved aphabet stamps used to stamp out beloved wisdom from ageless teachers across time. I made 75 of those calendars as gifts for dear friends who had helped me move my household three times in 3 years -- my meager household of myself + my cat, Bandy Bandera, who traveled  from TX to OR in search of more happiness, more art, more solitude, more connection to the natural world.


Everyone loved those first 75 ArtLight Quotation Calendars! And so, in 1997, when my friends begged me to "make it again, please!," I created a slightly more user-friendly version, and those 75 friends were so happy that they bought those calendars to give to their friends.

And so ArtLight was born and ArtLight has grown, over 30 years! We are designing our 30th Anniversary Edition of The ArtLight Quotation Calendar for 2027 and will soon have it on offer in our Etsy.com store and here, on our website. We hope you will love it!


In 2000, we launched our first website with the help of our webmaster, friend, musician and IT genius, Cheth Rowe. We had figured out that the art from the Quotation Calendar made excellent cards! Each year, over 30 years, we've added a minumum of 12 new designs -- now offering over 300 designs at all times on our website and on Etsy.com. We've developed prints, 6-paks of our cards, and some fun ideas like our "Any 10" options -- both random collections we choose for you, and collections you curate for yourself.
